At Roadmap we care about your privacy. We only collect personal data if we have a good reason to do so, and provide this policy to communicate transparently about what we do with your personal data. Please review this policy and contact us if you need any clarification.

Which personal data do we collect and why?

If you just visit our website we do not collect any personal data. We will only collect personal data in the following instances:

When you ask us a question using the chat, or send us an e-mail: your name and email address.

When you subscribe to a paid plan: first and last name, phone number, e-mail address, billing address and tokenized credit card information.

When you subscribe to our newsletter: your first name and email address.

How do we protect your personal data?

You can rest assured: we take measures to ensure that your personal data is kept personal. We work hard to protect your personal data against unauthorized access or disclosure. In order to do so, we take organizational measures ensuring that access to your data is restricted to those employees or agent who need to have access to it in order to help us process it. We are a tech company, so it won’t surprise you we also take a whole range of technical measures to protect your data. Technical measures include, for example, encrypting any personal information (in transit and at rest), user access management and penetration testing. Do we share your data with others?

We will never sell your personal data to another party. We do use the services of the following external data processors :

Intercom (chat and customer service)

Stripe (card processing)

Digital Ocean TOR1 data center (hosting services)

Amazon Web Services ca-central-1 data center (hosting services)

ChartMogul (analytics)

Google Analytics (analytics)

When you schedule a meeting with us, we will use the services of the following external data processors :

Calendly (scheduling)

Google Calendar (calendar)

Zoom (video meetings)

We have entered into a data processing agreement with each of these external data processors which obliges them to only process your personal data based on our instructions and in compliance with this privacy policy. These data processors will also have to take sufficient precautions to prevent the loss of your data. Please review our Data Processing Addendum for more information.

You should know that in the following exceptional circumstances your data could also be shared with others:

If we are under a legal obligation to share data with the authorities or if we have to share data to comply with an enforceable government request, we don’t have much of a choice and we will share the data the authorities ask for, which may include yours.

If another company acquires our company or acquires the Roadmap business from us, we will of course have to transfer your data to that company. That company will then take over all obligations under this privacy policy.

Information we collect about your users

We will collect your user’s first name, last name and email address when they interact with your public roadmap. We do not use this information for any purposes other than to allow you to keep track of who is following your roadmap, and to interact with them by messaging them through our messaging feature.

Your user data is solely used for the purposes of using the Roadmap service and is not transferred to any analytics or third-party providers, other than our own infrastructure. It will be stored solely in Canada, with these 2 processors:

Digital Ocean TOR1 data center (hosting services)

Amazon Web Services ca-central-1 data center (hosting services)

The EU has issued an adequacy decision for Canada's PIPEDA privacy protection legislation. Please review our Data Processing Addendum for more information.

Our integrations, such as Google Analytics, may collect anonymized data or more identifiable data such as your visitor’s IP address under your own accounts with these vendors. When you use that integration, it is your responsibility to address any privacy concerns with the vendor directly if applicable prior to enabling such integrations, and to ensure you update your privacy policy to outline your use of this data and your visitors’ rights.

Does Roadmap use cookies or similar technologies?

Cookies are small files existing of numbers and letters which are placed on your computer when you visit a website. Cookies are saved in your browser’s history and you can always delete them. You can also adjust your browser settings to prevent cookies from being saved on your computer.

If you just browse to the Roadmap website, we will place a few first party cookies on your computer including Google Analytics. We have adapted the Google Analytics settings to ensure no personal data is collected when you just visit the website. When you visit the website, these cookies will be installed, unless your browser settings prevent this from happening:

Google Analytics: anonymous data on how visitors use the website. Cookies are used to distinguish users. We only use these cookies to enhance the user experience and improve our website.

Intercom: Enables the Intercom chat functionality.

We use third-party advertising companies Facebook, Google, Twitter and LinkedIn to serve you relevant ads on their websites. These advertising service providers may collect non-identifiable information about your visits to our site. Such non-identifiable information does not include your name, address, e-mail address or other personal information. The information is collected through the use of cookies and pixel tags.

You can learn more about this type of advertising and your choices by going to Your Online Choices. When you opt-out using these methods, a cookie will be placed on your device indicating that you have opted-out of interest-based advertising. If you delete your cookies, you will need to opt-out again. These websites also provide detailed information about interest-based advertising and tips for managing your online privacy.

When you use the application at app.roadmap.space, we have also enabled the following services:

FullStory: session replay and heatmaps. This service is used to determine how our customers use Roadmap, and provide a better experience more efficiently.

Stripe: payment system.

Can we change this privacy policy?

We may change this privacy policy from time to time. We will post any privacy policy changes on this page and, if the changes are significant, we will provide a more prominent notice (including, for certain services, email notification of privacy policy changes).

Your rights

You may request us to send you a summary of the personal data processed about you. If you feel that your personal data have been processed incorrectly or incompletely, or if you feel that such processing was unnecessary, then you also can also ask us to edit, supplement or erase your personal data from our databases. Under the applicable privacy legislation, you also have the right to restrict processing, the right to data portability and the right to object to processing.
